Smokey House ~ Restaurant Review #160

Recently I visited Smokey House, Hitech City, Hyderabad with a team of around 20 people for lunch. Our booking was done one day prior to our visit.

We could acquire the tables as soon as we reached the restaurant. Almost 40 percent of my teammates opted for vegetarian menu whereas we were among the non-vegetarians. We sat on different tables for ease of serving us. After around 15 minutes of settling down in our places, we got our welcome drink.

Even though we were supposed to get some options to choose from, in actuality there were hardly any options for the drink. The only thing that was available was “Chatpata Orange” ( taste-wise it was plain orange juice with some chat masala mixed in it).

Now comes the appetizers… In non-veg starters we had chili chicken, tandoori chicken and fish.
Among those three, chili chicken was decent, tandoori chicken was around average and the fish was more of a disappointment.
In veg starters, there was a paneer (cottage cheese) keban, veg galouti kebab and crispy corns.
The paneer dish was terrible, none of us could finish it. On the other hand galouti kebab and crispy corn saved the show.
Starters were served by the waiters. Every time the people sitting in the furthest part of the table was not getting all the items. We had to request staffs multiple times to leave the plates so that we could serve ourselves. The service was quite slow and we had to ask them several times for repeating some of the starters.

Moving on to the main course…
Veg menu>>
Sambar,
Dal tadka,
Plain Rice,
Veg Manchurian,
Mushroom Masala,
Mix veg curry,
Paneer Tikka Masala,
Veg Pulao,
Veg Noodles,
Egg Plant in Coconut

Non-veg Menu>>
Chicken Dum biriyani,
Chicken Tikka Masala,
Gongura Chicken,
Egg Curry,
Pepper Chili Fish.

There is no point in talking about them individually, all were around average.

My favourite section: The desserts
In dessert they had
Jalebis,
small gulab jamun,
Ice cream (chocolate, vanila and strawberry),
carrot cake,
pastry,
bottle gourd halwa,
fruits.

At least the jalebis and the gulab jamuns were hot and fresh, so no complaints in that.

Ambiance is nice and perfect for corporate lunches and family dine-outs.

After finishing our lunch and photo sessions, we stepped into the bar section of the restaurant. It is completely separate even though the entry is same. There they had a small dance foor, places to sit, play billiard and a nice balcony with sitting arrangements. They played music for like 15 minutes or so, some of friends joined the dance floor as well. This was included in the lunch buffet package.

And that’s it for Rs 549(plus tax). If your main objective is to eat some good food , you might not get completely satisfied with Smokey House.
